A community organization that fights for affordable housing is unveiling a new energy efficiency program.

PUSH Buffalo is launching PUSH Green.

Scaling up residential energy efficiency is part of this new statewide initiative -- PUSH Green is designed to help homeowners by reducing energy usage and cost.

Clarke Gocker is a Green Jobs -- Green New York project manager.  He said residents in Erie County will be able to apply for a loan program offered by NYSERTA.

"And that will allow customers to finance energy efficiency improvements. $13,000 to $25,000 worth of improvements," said Gocker.

Gocker said customers should notice a comfortable, healthier and safer home.

PUSH Buffalo project director Eric Walker said this would create a "whole house" approach to energy efficiency.

People generally have a sense that one measure isn't enough.

This program is designed to create a green economy and  more new jobs in the construction industry.  PUSH Buffalo will team with NYSERTA over the next two years.

They will begin canvassing distressed neighborhoods of Buffalo and the outer ring suburbs at the end of this month  to offer PUSH GREEN to residents.
