Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta has been suspended, without pay, for four games for a head butt to another player.
It involved an illegal hit to the face of a Philadelphia Flyers forward during NHL Wednesday night in Buffalo. The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced the decision Thursday.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Kaleta will forfeit more than $19,621.64. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Kaleta will miss the next four games and will be eligible to return November 12 at Boston.
