An on-site health office is now open for Seneca Gaming Corporation employees in Niagara Falls. It will benefit more than 3,000 Seneca employees free of charge. On site nurses will be able to treat flu like symptoms and colds.
They will also be able to test for strep-throat and give flu vaccines.
Chairman of the Seneca Gaming Karen Karsten said having a health office on-site is not only convenient, but it will also influence employees to lead a healthy lifestyle.?
"We know that someone who is pre-diabetic has needs to be able to have blood-sugar checked, have blood-pressure checked. This way it is very close, it is very convenient , and anyone that wants to stop in here that is employed can stop in and there's no charge," said Karsten.
Walker said the Seneca Gaming Corporation would like to set an example for other large corporations, that having a health office on site is beneficial to it's employees.
Seneca Gaming employee Nanette Helgager is a diabetic. She already received help from the office when she wasn't feeling.
"I was flush and my vision was off. So I actually decided to come in and have my temperature checked. Our nurse practioner here actually did a full vital check on me and from that we found that my blood pressure was 140 over 102, which really needed to be looked at. Having this here was great, I could have taken a trip home and no telling what could have happened during that time," said Helgager.
