By Eileen Buckley

North Tonawanda, NY – An armed standoff in North Tonawanda ended peacefully early Wednesday morning.

A SWAT team surrounded a home on Tremont Street where an armed man in his 30s was holed up inside. He initially was holding his girlfriend and her two teenage daughters, but they were later released.

The incident began around 5:00 yesterday afternoon.

The man was taken into custody and will be arraigned later today.

Residents received an automated phone call warning them to stay inside their homes. But many residents were outside watching the situation.
