Run with the Angels

By WBFO Newsroom

Buffalo, NY – Holy Angels Academy held its second annual "Run with the Angels" Saturday morning in north Buffalo.

The 5K course began and ended at Holy Angels on Shoshone Drive.

Buffalo Police escorts assisted runners and walkers as they followed a route which took them through the picturesque North Buffalo and Central Park neighborhood.

The race kicked off at 10 a.m. Saturday morning under sunny skies. The three-mile trek included Hertel Avenue, Beard, Depew, Parkside, Huntington, Parker and Tauton.

The finish line service was provided by WNY Finish Line Services to tally race winners.

"Run with the Angels" was followed by a Post Race Tent party on the soccer field along Hertel Avenue in front of the school building.

The party included music, food and children's activities of face painting and bounce houses. The Holy Angels Academy Family Guild sponsored the party.

The 5K race was the final event of the high school's first Annual Alumnae Weekend. It included an Alumnae dinner Thursday evening at Westwood Country club.

Friday morning students gathered for an opening school year Mass at the school

School president Joan Thomas delivered her "State of the School Address". Friday's events included a golf tournament.

Holy Angels is a four-year, college preparatory Catholic high school founded by the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart.
