Orchard Park, NY – Ralph Wilson Stadium is now smoke-free. The stadium has joined the list of Western New York parks and facilities that have banned smoking.

Erie County Executive Chris Collins said stadium organizers quickly responded to fans wishes to make Bills games smoke free.

"It's the right thing to do on so many fronts. It's a good example to the kids as to why they shouldn't be smoking, and making it a little inconvenient on some of the smokers might encourage them to stop," said Collins.

Bills Chief Executive Officer Russ Brandon said the only place smoking is allowed is in the parking lot.

"We spent a lot of time talking to our fans and listening to our fans and people wanted a healthy environment here at the facility," said Brandon.

Brandon said the stadium will enforce a zero tolerance policy against smoking. He says anyone found smoking at the Ralph will quickly be removed.

"We applaud the Buffalo Bills administration for their strong leadership in the fight against tobacco use, the number one cause of preventable death in the United States," said Andrew Hyland, PhD, Department of Health Behavior at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. "The Buffalo Bills have taken a significant step to create a healthier, more family-friendly environment that protects everyone's right to breathe clean, smoke-free air."

The Buffalo Bills join a growing number of major league sports facilities that have adopted smoke-free policies.
