Power restored to thousands in Kenmore, North Buffalo

By WBFO Newsroom

Buffalo, NY – Power was knocked out to more than 18,000 National Grid customers late Tuesday morning.

National Grid spokesman Steve Brady tells WBFO News it appears a third party contractor dug up an underground cable along Kenmore Avenue and Starin Avenue in North Buffalo causing the power outages.

Brady said an investigation into the cause continues, but the contractor might have been doing work for National Grid.

National Grid crews began restoring power to customers about an hour after the disruption.

Power was restored to all customers after 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
