Congresswoman Slaughter blasts House Speaker Boehner's debt plan

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Western New York Congresswoman Louise Slaughter appeared on the House floor Thursday to speak out against the House Speaker's debt solution bill.

Congresswoman Slaughter said House Speaker John Boehner's plan is "a cynical waste of time". Slaughter pleaded against the plan.

Slaughter said that on the brink of default, lawmakers should be making serious efforts to raise the debt ceiling and reduce the national debit without placing the burden on the middle class. The bill would directly harm the middle class and create future cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

The deadline for a debt-limit solution is next Tuesday.
