Buffalo, NY – Officials cut the ribbon Wednesday morning on an all-new administration building at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.

The new facility also includes a large greenhouse and workspace. David Swarts, President and CEO of the Botanical Gardens, says construction of this new building is part of a master plan founded in 2004 that is getting back on track.

"Once that master plan is refreshed, the next step for us, along this road, is to get involved in a major, capital campaign, to make sure we have the resources to build out the master plan," said Swarts.

Erie County Legislator Daniel Kozub expressed the legislature's support for planned capital improvements to the grounds and added a personal reason why he supports the Gardens.

"I had my wedding at the Gardens. I think people should realize what a great place this is to get married and you can have your reception here too," said Kozub.

Erie County officials were on hand to voice their support for capital improvements to the Botanical Gardens, a strategy they say will help the tourist attraction move toward self-sufficiency in the future.
