Buffalo, NY – Now that same sex couples are getting married in New York, there are new legal issues to navigate around. The New York State Bar Association has created a legal guide for couples and attorneys.

Vince Doyle is president of the state Bar Association. There are now many legal questions same sex couples and lawyers will be seeking answers to. Attorneys are still getting used to the new law and the way it impacts federal laws governing such things as social security and income taxes.

The state Bar Association has put together a frequently asked questions brochure now posted its Website. The Association will also hold a special seminar for attorneys in September to learn about the law and its uncertainties.

Doyle said the biggest concern is the interconnection and interrelationship with federal and other state laws.
