Buffalo, NY – A three-alarm fire inside Goldman Titanium on Dorothy Street is under control, according to fire officials.
The industrial recycling facility is between Babcock Street and Bailey Avenue in Buffalo. Water could not be used to contain the fire as it reacts "violently" with titanium, according to fire officials.
Foam needed to fight the industrial fire was in short supply following the four-alarm fire last week at Niagara Lubricant. But the fire department was able to get more delivered to the titanium plant directly from the vendor.
Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield said the fire is under control, however, would burn for quite awhile. This is at least the fifth such fire at the plant since the mid-90's.
