Buffalo, NY – There is a sense of a renewed appreciation for the Erie Canal in downtown Buffalo with on-going development of Canalside at the Central Wharf.

But a local playwright believes many Western New Yorkers are unaware of Buffalo's historic impact on the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825. Hugh Pratt and his wife, Ann Porter Paris co-produced and wrote the play "Clinton's Ditch: The Story of the Building of the Erie Canal."

Another round of performances begin this Friday and will run through the weekend.
