Buffalo, NY – A training accident at Camp Pendleton in Southern California eleven days ago took the life of an area marine.

Sergeant Trevor Cook was killed when the helicopter he was riding in crashed. Cook was a highly decorated officer, having served two tours overseas, including time in Afghanistan. He joined the marines in 2004 after graduating from Lyndonville High School.

A service was held at St. Mary's church in Medina on Saturday, and Bill Brainard, a member of the attending Patriot Guard, claimed that Sergeant Cook did not die in vain.

Sergeant Cook leaves behind his wife, a sister, his parents and extended family.
