Orchard Park, NY – As the old Astro-Turf was removed from Ralph Wilson Stadium, brand new turf was being installed. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley tells us about the process.

Jim Dobmeier is owner of A-Turf. He watched Tuesday as his crew works to install a new playing surface. They began removing the old turf on July 5th and now are able to install about eight panels of new turf a day.

Dobmeier says the new turf should provide more durability than the old surface. The new turf has a 12-year life span.

The layer below the turf surface, known the "E" layer, is made of rubber and urethane. It is being repaired, not replaced.

Dobmeier is a life-long Bills fan and season ticket holder. He's thrilled to have his product installed at the Ralph, and remains hopeful the NFL lockout will end soon, so players can step out on the brand new turf this fall.
