By Michael Mroziak

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Sabres Thursday signed defenseman Christian Ehrhoff. The Sabres and the 28-year old defenseman agreed to a front-loaded, 10-year, $40 million contract.

And all that before Friday's free-agency even began.

Ehrhoff's negotiating rights were acquired Wednesday from the New York Islanders in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Earlier Thursday, the Buffalo Sabres introduced newly acquired defenseman Robyn Regehr at an HSBC Arena news conference. Regehr decided to waive a no-trade clause from his contract with the Calgary Flames to move here along with his pregnant wife.

Pegula said between that and parting with family back home in Western Canada, Regehr's move is most appreciated.
