Buffalo, NY – Contract talks continued Monday between Kaleida Health and the three unions that represent more than 8,000 employees with the health system. Kaleida spokesman Michael Hughes said the parties worked throughout the weekend in an effort to reach agreement on a new contract.
"Management and labor continue to make progress, having now agreed to 121 articles and MOUs during bargaining. The remaining items outstanding are primarily economic. Our goal is to reach a contract agreement before the expiration of the contract extension tonight," said Hughes.
Hughes said they continue to make progress and hope to reach a contract agreement before the expiration of the contract extension at midnight Monday night. However, Hughes said economic issues still have not been settled.
Kaleida Health and its unions, the Communications Workers of America (CWA 1168), the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE 17) and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, have been bargaining since March 2, 2011. The original agreement between the parties expired May 31, 2011.
