Buffalo graduates 300 with GEDs

By Ashley Hassett

Buffalo News – The Buffalo Public School Education Division held their spring GED graduation ceremony at Burchfield Penny Art Center this morning.

Over 300 students graduated from the program this year. The GED certificates will allow the graduates to move on to the college or career paths. During the ceremony graduates applauded those who helped them along the way.

Council Member and Pastor of True Bethel Baptist Church Darius Pridgen said there may be road blocks along the way, but it's possible for anyone to receive their GED.

"Part of the reason I'm here as a pastor is because we have partnered with Buffalo Public Schools in order to get out the information about GED's," said Pridgen. "You know it's easy to complain about what someone does not have, but the public schools have made it very easy for any adult to get their degree through the GED program."

Pridgen said he encourages people of all ages to further their education. Director of Adult Education Lester Leopold said the school is there post graduation as well to assist its graduates with any help they need.
