Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron Brown has signed a new redistricting map for the city of Buffalo.
The Mayor held public hearing earlier this week. A few citizens spoke out against the map asking the Mayor to veto it.
Some residents are not pleased with the new redrawn lines proposed for Parkside's Vernon Triangle neighborhood. It would be moved from the Delaware District to the Masten District, some residents say that will fracture their neighborhood.
Others also voiced concerns about the Fillmore and Ellicott District changes proposed in the Council's map. One downtown resident claimed it appears to be a "political tradeoff" and it fails to create a natural flow of commerce and social activity.
But the Mayor has signed the newly drawn map that the Buffalo Common Council unanimously voted on last month.
