Buffalo, NY – The Kids Escaping Drugs--Renaissance House received a $25,000 donation from UPS.
The residential campus houses young adults recovering from substance abuse. Programs on the campus are designed to handle the rising abuse of prescription drugs effecting young adults.
Western New York Congressman Brian Higgins appeared at the center Tuesday to talk a tour. Higgins says work conducted at the Renaissance House is inspiring
"The extraordinary work that's done with Kids Escaping Drugs and Renaissance House provides an invaluable asset to our community. The fact of the matter is that kids fall into these habits and the good thing is that their is an organization like this that helps to catch them," said Higgins.
Higgins said these programs help to battle the rising abuse of of prescription drugs effecting young adults.
"The success of this program is repeated through the years, through the decades and its a great, great program and these kids of drug epidemics are going to plague certain communities ours included and everybody here does an extraordinary job and provides a great service to our community," said Higgins.
Higgins said in order to reduce drug addiction more programs focusing of recovery are needed.
UPS representatives said that they hope the donation will be used to reach more young adults in need of drug rehab.
