Buffalo, NY – Voters across Western New York Tuesday will be making decisions regarding their local school districts.
With cuts in state aid, many schools are asking residents to approve tax increases, while at the same time, still trimming staff positions.
Two percent tax increases are on the ballot in Clarence and North Tonawanda, yet each district would still cut jobs if those increases are approved, 40 positions in Clarence and 59 in North Tonawanda.
Orchard Park, meantime, is seeking a five percent tax increase and has proposed cutting 37 staff positions.
In addition to the budget votes, many districts are electing board members Tuesday including Ken-Ton, Hamburg, Frontier, Lake Shore, Eden, and North Collins.
