Public input welcomed in state budget discussions

By Chris Jamele

Buffalo, NY – An initiative to involve taxpayers and the general public in trimming the state budget is being introduced by State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer.

The campaign is called YouCut Albany, and access for providing input can be found on the Senator's website. Visitors there can weigh in on a variety of costly issues including measures to reduce Medicaid and welfare fraud, an effort to collect health care co-pays from prison inmates and slashing the number of Deputy Commissioners across the state.

The campaign is being modeled on a federal program.
