Buffalo, NY – Western New York Congressman Brian Higgins appeared on the House floor Wednesday to honor the victims of the attach in Tucson.
Higgins made his remarks prior to debate by the House on a bill which condemns the horrific attach which occurred at the "Congress on your Corner" event hosted by Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
Higgins noted some suggest that violence theme politcal rhetoric may have sparked the attacks.
"But this attack was carried out by a man who appears to have been severely mentally ill and we may never understand why he did what it is he did. Our best response to this atrocity is to to reject fear and intimidation and embrace the work in our communities with joy openness and dedication. That is the type of public service that Gabby believes in and I urge my colleagues to follow her example," said Higgins.
Higgins says the outpouring of support from Western New York for the victims has been overwhelming.
