Buffalo, NY – A flood advisory is in effect for Erie County until 2:15 Saturday afternoon. A flood watch is also posted until Saturday evening in Northern Erie County.

The unseasonably warm weather has melted the snowpack across parts of Metro Buffalo.

The runoff is increasing the water level on area creeks. Up to a half inch of rain will complicate the situation and may result in some ice jams and local flooding.

The greatest risk for flooding is along Cazenovia, Cayuga and Buffalo Creeks in Western New York.

The National Weather Service reports an ice jam remained in place near the Stevenson Street Bridge in South Buffalo late Saturday morning along Cazenovia Creek. Water has risen, with some overflow spilling into lower lying areas of Cazenovia Park. High waters also extend upstream to Orchard Park Road.
