Buffalo, NY – Erie County is making a push to stop holiday revelers who might be driving while under the influence of alcohol.
An effort dubbed "DWI Holiday Hundred" will be underway from now until New Year's Eve. One hundred patrols from seventeen different law enforcement agencies will be stationed throughout the county and will be checking drivers to see if they've been drinking before getting behind the wheel.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard has issued a warning.
County Executive Chris Collins claims that this initiative is being funded in full with fines collected from previous DWI convictions. There is no cost to the county's taxpayers for this effort in making the roads safer for all.
