New city fire equipment; Mayor concern other purchases could be jeopardized

By WBFO News

Buffalo, NY – Buffalo's Fire Department dedicated three new pieces of state-of-the-art fire fighting equipment.

Mayor Brown and Fire commissioner Garnell Whitefield showed off two new pumpers and one new ladder truck.

The new trucks replace the oldest equipment at Ladder 13 on Hertel Avenue and Engine 4 on Abbot Road.

But while showing off the new equipment, the Mayor also voiced concerned that budget cuts by the Common Council could jeopardize efforts to upgrade the fire fighting fleet.

Mayor Brown said the council cut his budget for fire apparatus. Lawmakers approved amendments to the mayor's capital budget Thursday. Brown said he's not happy with the council's changes.
