Buffalo, NY – Volunteers joined forces in an effort to re-tree parts of the Buffalo area that were devastated by the October Storm in 2006.

Four hundred new trees were planted along South Park Avenue from Bailey Avenue to the city line in hopes that the enhancement will encourage new businesses and residents to move into the area.

Approximately fifty new trees were also planted in Martin Luther King Junior Park. Otis Glover of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy explains the benefit of replacing the lost foliage (hear audio clip).

The Conservancy is hoping to plant ten thousand new trees in ten years. All of the trees that were planted yesterday were provided by Re-Tree Western New York.
