15 year old girl shot to death in home

By Eileen Buckley & Bert Gambini

Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl gunned down in her own home.

Investigators say the girl was found with a gunshot wound inside her home at 337 Hewitt Avenue in the City's University District Thursday night.

Chief of Detective Dennis Richards said it's still unclear whether the victim was shot from inside or outside the house.

The victim is identified as Dominique Maye.

An autopsy was conducted Friday morning at the Erie County Morgue that confirmed the victim died from gun shot wounds.

Northeast District police had responded to the area for calls regarding multiple shots being fired.

Crime Scene Unit personnel retrieved evidence from the crime scene, indicating more than a dozen shots were fired from an assault rifle at the house.

Police said there were four other people inside the house, including three other children, a 6, 7 and 16 year old, along with one adult.

Police are asking for the public's help. Anyone with information should call the Buffalo Police TIP-CALL line at 847-2255 or they can text a tip to that number.
