Buffalo, NY – The American Heart and American Stroke Associations have recognized Buffalo's Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital for its stroke patient care. The award honors the advanced and comprehensive quality of the hospital's stroke care program.
Gates Circle President Tammy Owen says the hospital's stroke team pays careful attention to patients.
"We monitor and measure everything that we do with our patients, on a patient-by-patient basis," Owen said. "We have weekly and monthly stroke team meetings where we review our outcomes in all of those different measures. So it has very much been a team approach, analyzing our ongoing data and trying every day to get better and better at what we do."
Owen said that last year alone, Millard Fillmore treated more than 1,700 stroke victims -- more than any other stroke center in New York.
