Buffalo, NY – Deputy Mayor Donna Brown is leaving her City Hall position to take a job at the Erie County Medical Center.
Brown -- who is not related to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown -- is the second Deputy Mayor to resign in the last four years. Angela Joyner, Brown's predecessor, resigned after serving only four months.
"It has been an honor to work for Mayor Brown and to participate in the development and implementation of various programs and policies that will continue to make Buffalo a better and more vibrant city," said Deputy Mayor Brown. "I believe the city is moving in the right direction and that the developments that are occurring throughout the city, including the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and the waterfront, along with new investment and the city's stable fiscal condition, will provide for a future for our city that has limitless potential."
Donna Brown will take over as Patient Advocate, a newly created position at ECMC. She'll be responsible for patient satisfaction and cultural awareness.
With her departure, Steven Casey remains as Buffalo's only Deputy Mayor.
