Bill could bring land bank to Buffalo

By Chris Jamele

Buffalo, NY – A bill sponsored by Assemblyman Sam Hoyt could create a municipal land bank for the City of Buffalo.

Land banks are an increasingly popular method for cities to manage abandoned housing and to effectively reuse the property. Hoyt's bill could pass the State Legislature as early as next week.

The formation of a land bank has previously been opposed by Mayor Byron Brown and he continues to question the fiscal effect of the program.
