Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and House members Louise Slaughter and Brian Higgins announce Ellicott Park plans

By Andrew Polino

Buffalo, NY – Plans were unveiled Friday for a new streetscape project at the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

Mayor Byron Brown says a linear park will be built along Ellicott Street, consisting of plenty of green space, public art and benches. The nearly $7 million project will also result in the re-paving of Ellicott Street itself, plus the installation of new sidewalks and lighting.

Medical Campus Director Matthew Enstice says the transformation of Ellicott Street will lead to further growth.

"Improving the public space on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus is critical to establishing an environment that facilitates excellence and innovation," Enstice said. "Ellicott Park will be a space unique to the City of Buffalo, creating a sense of place that will complement the research, clinical care, education, and entrepreneurship happening inside the institutions."

Enstice also mentioned other projects will follow, including the extension of Allen Street into the Medical Campus.
