Buffalo, NY – Erie County lawmakers voted 14 to nothing Thursday to reduce the size of the Legislature from 15 to 13 members.

Democratic legislator Barbara Miller-Williams says the reduction is part of a trend to economize.

But Erie County Executive Chris Collins says he will veto the measure, because it also includes an extension of legislator terms from two to four years.

Miller-Williams, also the chair of the Legislature's Government Affairs Committee, says she thinks there are enough votes to override any veto by Collins.

If the measure is finally approved, it will go before voters in November.
