Buffalo, NY – The University at Buffalo unveiled the next phase of its UB 2020 vision Friday -- a $46 million downtown "Gateway" complex at the site of the M. Wile building. It includes renovation of the building and a new four-story facility attached by a glass atrium.

The new building will be the home of the Educational Opportunity Center.

UB President John Simpson says the complex makes existing university programs and services more accessible to downtown residents.

"By coordinating a wide range of community resources -- from academic programming to job training and employment opportunity programs -- together in the same complex, UB is working to extend the reach of our academic and community assets, and to make them more accessible for Buffalo residents," Simpson noted.

Simpson says the state funded project is a key focus of the UB 2020 plan. Construction is scheduled to begin in August of next year.
