Buffalo, NY – An investigation by the Federal Trade Commission has found that gas prices in Western New York were unjustifiably high during the previous fall months. But The FTC was not able to identify illegal activities.

Congressman Brian Higgins says he believes that implicit collusion was apparent in keeping the region's gas prices artificially high. Higgins joined Senator Charles Schumer in requesting the investigation.

Higgins claims he will be taking action, including the possibility of proposed legislation, to ensure that prices in Western New York do not gouge the consumer.
