Schumer Recommends Hochul for US Attorney

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – US Senator Charles Schumer is recommending William Hochul to become the next U-S Attorney in Western New York.

Hochul is an assistant US Attorney in the western district. He joined the local office in 1991.

Hochul would succeed Terrance Flynn, who resigned in January to enter private practice.

"Mr. Hochul has had a long and distinguished career in public service," said Schumer. "His exceptional, innovative legal mind, his commitment to justice, and his extensive experience will make him an outstanding U.S. Attorney for the Western District."

During his time in the Buffalo office, Hochul has taken on gang-related murder cases, tackled the corruption of Laborers Local 91 and successfully convicted the infamous Lackawanna Six.

President Barack Obama will make the official appointment.
