Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita discusses case with reporters

Buffalo, NY – A former prosecutor was initially sentenced to spend 15 days behind bars for trying to cover up her own drunk driving arrest.

46 year old Anne Adams was sentenced Thursday mornning and taken into custody. But late Thursday afternoon Adams was released from the Erie County Holding Center. Adams, who once prosecuted DWI cases, was caught trying to hid her own drunk driving arrest.

Adams was issued a stay of sentence following an appellate session with her lawyer James Harrington. He was given 120-days to issue an appeal for the 15-day jail term.

Adams was arrested in Hamburg last September. The judge also sentenced Adams to serve three years probation, 100-hours of community service and she must write two letters of apology, one to the officer who arrested her, the other to the Erie County Bar Association.

Adams has lost her license to practice law. She was also fired from U-B's law school where she held a position. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley has reaction from Erie County's top prosecutor on this case.
