Tonawanda, NY – The principal at Kenmore East High School has confessed to sealing some school funds. Town of Tonawanda Police have charged 54 year old LuAnn Ostanski with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

Police Lt. Nick Bado says Ostanski was the one who actually reported on-going thefts at the school, then later confessed to stealing the funds.

"The amount of people that had access to the vault was a certain amount. Then the amount of the people who had access to the draws was even smaller. One of them was the principal, so ultimately she was brought in for an interview some photographic evidence was obtained and ultimately she confessed," said Lt. Bado.

Ostanski has resigned as principal. The superintendent of the Kenmore-Tonawanda School District would only say the board of education accepted her resignation.

Ostanski cited "personal and family reasons" for resigning. The District is not issuing any further comment on the matter.
