Cuomo Secures Refunds for LA Weight Loss Center Clients
By Mark Scott
Buffalo, NY – State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says his office has secured $275,000 from LA Weight Loss Centers, which abruptly closed 45 locations, including several in Western New York, early last year.
Attorney General Cuomo says the funds will be used to reimburse local clients who paid for services that were never provided. The claims by customers range from $49 to $1,200. Individual compensation will depend on how many eligible customers apply. Cuomo says he's found more than 100 former customers and is looking for thousands more who are owed money. Customers who think they're due a refund should contact the attorney general's office.
Cuomo says even companies that close because of the tough economy have obligations to their customers. He says the company closed its New York centers and entered bankruptcy court soon after.
