Buffalo, NY – The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine announced a program Tuesday that will offer dental screenings to school students in the area at little to no cost. It's part of the observance of "Healthy Smile Week" that starts next Monday.
The program, the first of its kind in the state, comes in response to legislation requiring public schools to request dental health certificates for students entering certain grades.
Thirty-five area dental care providers will take part in the program, with hopes that parents will select a "dental home" for students - a place where they can be checked regularly.
Information on specific hours and locations where children can be screened is available at the program's web site, or call 716-861-3593.
