Preparing to Auction Aud Items

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Items recovered from the from the former Memorial Auditorium will be auctioned off by late November or early December.

Standing outside of the former Aud on Lower Terrace in downtown Buffalo, Mayor Byron Brown announced that on Monday, the city will begin accepting requests for proposals to hire an auctioneer.

Brown says the city wants to hire a professional auctioneer. The selection will be announced September 16th.

City Public works commissioner Steve Stepniak says a few hundred seats will be up for auction.

Stepniak says crews recovered approximately 660 sets of two row seats, 860 sets of three row seats and five sets of four row seats. There are also 47 dasher boards.

But Stepniak says the seats are from the blue section only. Other seats could not be salvaged because of deterioration and mold inside the former arena.
