Mercy Employees Authorize Strike
By WBFO News
Buffalo, NY – Employees at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo participated in a strike authorization vote Wednesday.
Ninety-eight percent of the 1,100 members of CWA Local 1133 voted to give their union the power to call a strike if new contract negotiations stall. The local represents nurses, service and clerical staff at the hospital.
Mercy employees have been working without a contract for one week. There have been no talks with hospital management since Monday.
Union leaders would have to give ten days notice for any strike action.
