DA Charges Lancaster Man in Fatal Drag Race

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – A Lancaster man was charged yesterday for his alleged role in a deadly drag race with another driver last month.

Twenty-one-year-old Christopher Mejak was arraigned on two counts of manslaughter and criminally-negligent homicide. He pleaded not guilty and will return to court next Monday. The other driver and a passenger were killed when their car crashed during the race.

District Attorney Frank Clark says the vehicles were racing along Transit Road at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour.

Clark said Mejac was previously convicted on a charge of engaging in an unlawful speed contest. That conviction would have been dismissed had he stayed out of trouble for a year.
