Buffalo, NY – New York State Regents Chancellor Robert Bennett received one of UB's most prestigious awards Sunday.
Bennett is the recipient of the Chancellor Charles P. Norton Medal, UB's highest award. Bennett participated in the University's 162nd general commencement Sunday to receive the honor.
Charles Norton was the sixth chancellor of UB. He held that post from 1905 to 1920. Norton was a lawyer. He helped found the Buffalo Law School. which was later transformed into UB's law school.
The Norton Medal is presented each year to publicly recognize a person who has performed a great thing in Buffalo and accomplished it by a great civic or political act. Bennett is cited as a leader for education across all levels in the state. Bennett says education is the foundation for a successful life.
