Slaughter Critical of War on Fifth Anniversary

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Western New York Congresswoman Louise Slaughter is voicing her outrage as the US marks the fifth anniversary of the War in Iraq.

Slaughter says the Iraq War has delivered five years of misery, loss of life and disabilities to the many young people fighting the war. She noted that it is also costing $15 billion dollars a month.

Slaughter is highly critical of Vice President Dick Cheney who, earlier this week while visiting Iraq, said the US cannot just pull out of the conflict. Slaughter says Cheney is the biggest cheerleader of this war.

Slaughter says she believes the only way to resolve the war is with the election of a new Democratic president.

Slaughter says the cost of the war has left the US without funding domestic funding for highway and bridge repairs, education programs and or provide health insurance for millions of Americans who are without coverage.
