Senator Rath Says Spitzer Must Resign

By Eileen Buckley

Albany, NY – There's increasing pressure for Sptizer to step down.

Republican Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco is threatening to push for impeachment proceedings if Spitzer doesn't resign with the next 48-hours.

But Tedisco would need support from the Assembly's Democratic majority to get articles of impeachment to the floor. Reaction continues from Albany.

WBFO News reached State Senator Mary Lou Rath of Amherst in Albany Tuesday. Rath says Spitzer needs to resign.

"I would think that is the most honorable way for him to come out of a bad situation that he brought on himself," said Rath.

Rath says she believes the process will play itself out. "I am hopeful that Mr. Spitzer will do the right thing and put this to rest as quickly as possible," noted Rath.
