Senator Schumer to Meet with NFL Leader

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – U.S. Senator Charles Schumer says he plans to meet in Washington Wednesday with the NFL Commissioner to discuss the future of the Buffalo Bills.

Senator Schumer says when he meets with Commissioner Roger Goodell, the number one topic of conversation will be how to keep the Bills in Buffalo.

Schumer quickly stepped forward last week in response to remarks made by Bills owner Ralph Wilson. Schumer says he did receive assurances from Wilson that he has every intention of keeping the franchise in Buffalo. Still, Schumer says it is important for the region to be concerned for the long-term.

Last week Wilson refused to speculate about the future as he discussed plans to regionalize the Bills by playing eight games in Toronto. But Schumer believes some of Wilson's remarks on marketing the team were misinterpreted.
