Elected Officials Seek Removal of Ugly Barge

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Local elected officials braved Friday's mixed precipitation to tour an eyesore on Buffalo's outer-harbor.

The 123-foot Landsdowne barge has been moored at the Southend Marina since late November. That's the same place where another unsightly barge was moored for 12 years before it was moved last summer.

Congressman Brian Higgins says he and Mayor Byron Brown want this barge removed. Brown says the marina's owner could be subject to one thousand dollar-a-day fines.

The barge itself is the property of the Specialties Restaurant Group, which owns Shanghai Red's downtown.
