Ready to Train New Police Recruits

Buffalo Police Department

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – By next summer some new Buffalo Police recruits could be ready to hit the streets.

Now that the results of the Buffalo Police exam are complete, the department will begin to create a hit list of potential hires. Mayor Byron Brown says over 3,000 people initially applied for new police jobs. The City is planning to begin training classes at the police academy for new recruits by this coming January.

Mayor Brown says that class would complete its training by June of next year. The Brown Administration announced an ambitious plan to hire 100 new police officers over the next three years.
