Buffalo, NY – Another new bio-tech company has opened within the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus downtown. Cleveland Bio Labs is now conducting research on High Street.
For some time, local leaders have been promising that bio research will begin to replace Buffalo's past industrial town image and boost the region's economy. Thursday was proof that the City is working to entice and attract these companies to the medical corridor.
The corporate headquarters of Cleveland Bio Labs is now located across from Roswell Park. It is developing two types of drugs to protect normal tissue from the harmful effects of radiation. Yakov Kogan, a Russian-born and trained scientist and one of the co-founders of the company, says these drugs are used in bio defense and for cancer patients who under go radiation.
