Buffalo, NY – Friday marks the first anniversary of a snowstorm that like the Blizzard of 77 will be long remembered by those who experienced it. What's become known as the October Surprise paralyzed the region.

Many residents were without power for as long as ten days. The vast majority of the region's trees were damaged, many of them lost forever.

WBFO's Mark Scott has more on what we went through during the first 24 hours of this historic storm. Click the "listen" icon above to hear his story now or use your podcasting software to download it to your computer or iPod.
